ATLAS Pixel - Module task force
Minutes of the 06 June 2006 phone conference
Attending:
A. Andreazza, M. Cristinziani, K. Einsweiler,
C. Gemme, I. Ibragimov, J. Walbersloh, W. Walkowiak.
- Approval of minutes of the previous meeting.
Minutes are approved.
- Updates on stave testing
The updating of PDB information concerning stave repairs
has been completed for the staves already re-tested in Bonn.
For the other staves this information can already be inserted now
as separate mechanical test, or just wait re-testing of these
staves after pipe insertion.
The former approach is the safest, but it is more time consuming.
Markus will evaluate and choose one of the two options according
to the workload.
He will also check if there are repaired staves going to
cabling without re-testing (that should not happen but...)
The ranking application has been modified to properly recognize these
repairs.
It is important to keep trace of bad FE after thermal cycles (usually
wire bond problems). Claudia to collect the information for the
next meeting.
- News on bare modules and components assembly and deliveries:
- deliveries from AMS
Module production at AMS ha restarted.
Last week received and tested 4 new modules (3 first class,
1 second class) and 5 reworked (1 first class, 4 second class).
First class modules have already been sent to Genova.
Today received 14 new modules. From next week, expect again the
20 modules/week rate, unless further problems.
AMS has tiles for 110 more modules. Expect to finish production
by mid-July.
- distribution and flow of components (type 0 cables,
shipping frames, FlexMCC)
- Status of FlexMCC recovery
Bonn: 27 FlexMCC from Genova have been bonded and
sent back.
LBL FlexLoaded mentioned last week flexes have been given to
Bonn since there are no more MCC in Genova. They will be
completed an forwarded to Genova.
Dortmund: 7 remaining FlexMCC did not glue well.
They will try gluing again this week.
Siegen: 5 MCC have been replaced, but are still to be
bonded.
- Status of distribution of flex modules
Distribution of Dortmund modules started last week: 20 to Genova
and 20 to CPPM. Shipping will continue this week.
No objection has been received to the
proposed use of ranking>1000
modules. Markus will retest a pair of dubious
Bonn modules.
Some problem have been reported by Jean-Claude about
Dortmund modules with missing RDB data. Joerg noticed the
files on the RDB servers are corruptted he is recreating them.
- Usage of second class modules?
Apparently there is no immediate need to speed up module
assembly, so AMS second class modules will continue to be
kept aside. If manpower availability in Genova will require
a rearrangment, it will be raised at the MTF meeting.
- Lab tour:
Bonn: rebonded and encapsulated few modules, they are
currently being retested again.
About 10 modules may require an MCC replacement, the debugging according
to Claudia's sketched procedure has been started before attempting the
MCC replacement..
Found also 1 module from Siegen with a problematic FE: the FE wire
bonds have been removed bonds and the module is going to be retested.
As soon as he will have time, Markus will prepare a report of all
problematic modules to be submitted to the task force to decide the
usage of dubious ones.
Dormund: the last 5 production modules will be
finished end of this week.
21 modules are in hospital (not ranked in PDB).
Some have bad column pairs and dead FE:
they will go until the end of the testing as soon as normal
production is finished.
Most modules with MCC issues are likely to be recovered
by re-bonding.
Few modules with IV or additional unknown problems
will be discussed together with Martin and Daniel when they are
back from CERN.
Genova:
8 modules repaired in Bonn under test. About 10 are still in Bonn.
Module assembly will restart with the four bare modules just delivered.
As to hospitalized moduels, Claudia has sent
a report.
Comments and suggestions about how to treat
these modules are expected at next meeting.
Siegen: module production is finished, but
some modules have still to complete the ranking.
Besides that there are 3 hospitalized modules: two needs MCC replacement,
1 still to be checked, but it is likely it will have a dead chip.
- AOB.
Next meeting will be chaired by Markus and Claudia. In order to
help in preparing the minutes, everybody is requested to send reports
by e-mail.
